1. Lots of BC football! There are quite a few fun home games on the schedule. Ever since my parents moved to London, the tailgating has become pretty infrequent. This fall, however, I can count on them to be there for a few good games. Everyone is going to the Notre Dame game, of course.

2. See more of Massachusetts. There are so many great places to see near us. We are always talking about taking in some of the sites and towns near Boston but we never seem to get around to it. This year I’d at least like to see Salem. I’ve heard it can be a bit crazy and touristy (and totally bonkers around Halloween) but I’d still really like to see it.

3. Buy sweaters. I lost three of my favorite sweaters in an accident involving a sick cat that I will spare you the details of. I need replacements.

4. Redouble my efforts to get a job. I really like my current job, but I need something I can count on to be full time (and some benefits would be nice to0). I’m burned out after a few years of endless job applications. I need to square my shoulders and stop half-assing it.

5. Get our finances in order. We have accounts here and accounts there, some investments we never look at, no real long term plan for saving for a house (not to mention that we might actually be mature enough to have children someday).

6. Plan a trip of some kind. Both friends and family have been talking about taking a trip sometime soon. My mom wants me to come to London, possibly this fall, which I would really like to do. Two couples we are friends with came down to RI with us for a weekend and it was so, so fun. So that got us all talking about taking a more significant trip together. Two possibilities were renting a house together on the beach in Puerto Rico and taking a trip down to New Orleans. The New Orleans thing came up because the boys went down there a couple years ago for Pat’s bachelor party. The boys loved it and want to go back, and the girls are jealous of all their super fun stories.

7. Research grad schools. The thought of going back kind of makes me want to scream, but I’m starting to think if I want a career anytime in the next 5 years, I’m going to need a masters in education.

It’s hot!

Boston is sweltering right now. It has rained a few times in the last week, but other then getting everything wet, it hasn’t done much to improve the temperature. The cats are lethargic and sulky, as am I! –
